International Body Recognizes HGC’s Information Technology Initiatives
Date Posted: July 7, 2010
The Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC), the country’s premiere guaranty institution and indispensable partner in sustainable housing finance, was recently chosen as one of this year’s Laureates by the Computerworld Honors Program. HGC President Gonzalo Benjamin A. Bongolan represented the Corporation during the 22nd Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony and Gala Awards Evening on June 7, 2010 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The Home Guaranty Corporation was recognized for the implementation of their Information Systems Strategic Plan (ISSP) that will use a single platform design, which would result in a very stable system foundation, and improve their operations and services. The HGC Management Information Systems Department, the hard-working team behind the project, faced many challenging tasks, such as transferring and converting decades worth of hard data to electronic form, as well as establishing the electronic hardware and software to fully support the operations of the Corporation. In fact, the current ISS Plan being implemented was improved through the team’s initiative to include the many technological developments in recent years. The Computerworld Honor’s Program is an annual event, equivalent to the Academy Awards of the Information Technology industry, which brings together the principals of the world's foremost information technology companies to recognize and document the achievements of individuals, organizations, and institutions around the world, whose application of technology promotes positive economic and social change. This year, the awarding body honored 151 Laureates from Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, The Netherlands, the Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, and the United States.
