Theme – The Philippine Housing Finance Sector after Financial and Natural Calamities

Since its inception in 2007 the Forum has successfully provided a venue for knowledge-sharing among housing and housing finance stakeholders. Now on its fourth run, the Forum continues to showcase a number of seasoned experts offering their valuable insights on timely issues and trends in housing and housing finance, both locally and internationally.

This year, state-owned Home Guaranty Corporation (HGC) will gather a host of industry experts in the fields of global finance and earth sciences to apprise Forum delegates on housing and housing finance prospects in the aftermath of the global financial crisis and the impact of the recent natural calamities in the country.

Hongkong-based Leland L. Sun, founder and chairman of Pan Asia Mortgage Company, Ltd., will expound on the topic: “The Global Financial Crisis and How It Is Shaping Housing Finance.”

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director, Dr. Renato Solidum, will offer updates on the Philippines’ geo-hazard mapping in light of the onslaught of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng and continuing risk from earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Meanwhile, HGC president Gonzalo Benjamin A. Bongolan will present the “2010 Philippine Housing Finance Outlook.”

The Honorable Vice President Noli “Kabayan” De Castro, who is also the Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, will likewise elaborate on the effects of the recent financial and natural calamities on the housing sector to close the event.
